Hello, I'm Ali

I’m Ali Turnbull. I live in the beautiful county of Suffolk, England, with my husband Robin. Since 2019 I have also lived with a crazy and unpredictable beast called Parkinson’s, which has taken the liberty of destroying some rather important brain cells that affect movement. I decided very early on that instead of mourning the brain cells I had lost, I would celebrate those that remain with the things I love – music, exercise, humour, and the great outdoors. So far, it seems to be working! .

Support

If you are a person with Parkinson’s (PwP), you can find and share tips to build your team and tell them what you need. If you are a supporter, find out how you can help make the Parkinson’s experience easier to manage.

On track

Here you’ll find tunes and lyrics to inspire you and make you smile – think Desert Island Discs without the desert island. Sometimes I’ll throw in a few scenic routes for ‘wobbly walkers’. And maybe a bit of trainspotting.

Open to all

Not Parkinson’s? Maybe you have a different long-term condition that you, too, are tackling with positivity and a good sense of humour. We’ve lots in common and you are very welcome here.

The beat goes on

I’m always searching for new, fun ways to create that ‘magic hour’ in which I forget I have Parkinson’s. Last week was no exception as I set foot into the world of West African drumming.

The Mighty Quinn

Bonkers, barmy, barking, bananas. In a world that seems to have gone mad, I hope we can still preserve some of our vocabulary for my favourite brand of madness – benign eccentricity.
